Resource Center
Our
Immigrant Resource Center assists immigrant families through citizenship
classes, case management, legalization assistance, information and
referral services. Our immigration services help families stay together
and reunites families separated by immigration laws. Bilingual staff
enable immigrant families to access community resources. Spanish
speaking staff available.

Legal
Services
Initial legal services are provided in Santa Fe by Board of Immigration
Appeals (BIA) accredited personnel from Catholic Charities. They
counsel legal permanent residents and undocumented individuals on
their rights and responsibilities regarding their immigration status
in the United States of America. People attaining legal status rid
themselves of the fear of persecution and deportation. In many cases,
individuals become citizens, participate in the political process
, and contribute to the betterment of their communities. For initial
interview please call our office.

Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility
for services is based on the existence of a problem involving
immigration and/or citizenship issues because of the individual's
legal status. |
Case Management
Case management assistance is provided free of charge to immigrants
and their families. Information and referral services are also provided
in order to insure good acclimatization into the Northern New Mexico
community.
A Spanish Directory
of Community Resources for Northern New Mexico is also provided
for clients and the general public free of charge.
Citizenship
Classes
Citizenship classes continue to provide instruction and orientation
to many who seek to participate fully in our country and to share
in the American Dream. Classes are offered three times a year (Spring,
Summer and Fall.) Classes are between 10 and 14 weeks long, one
evening a week for three hours. Classes are offered at Catholic
Charities or at a local public school.
Classes are
structured to help students improve basic verbal, reading, writing
and listening skills in English. INS 100 questions on citizenship
are reviewed extensively covering basic knowledge of U.S. Government
and U.S. History.
Catholic Charities
promotes citizenship to keep families together and enable immigrants
to have a voice in the civic concerns of their communities. Citizenship
classes are free of charge.

Criteria: Must
be 18 yrs. old to participate in Citizenship class. Registration
is required prior to attending Citizenship class. Basic English
conversation skills needed for Citizenship Class. |
