Catholic Charities' Refugee Resettlement Program is dedicated to improving the quality of life for newly arrived refugee families. The Refugee Resettlement Program assists any person who has entered the United States as a refugee (as recognized by the federal government) for up to five years from the date of entry.

The Refugee Resettlement Program of Catholic Charities is a comprehensive program devoted to the successful integration of refugee families into the Central New Mexico community. Through case management, job development, and education, the Refugee Resettlement Program empowers newly arrived families to achieve self-sufficiency and to become active members of their community.

The Refugee Resettlement Program offers a wide range of services focusing on empowerment and self-sufficiency for refugee families.

  • Housing assistance and household goods at time of arrival.

  • Individual case managers provide intensive service and document client progress to families for up to six months from the time of arrival. Case management may continue for up to five years for return clients and special needs cases.

  • Job developers provide employment services, support and follow-up to clients throughout a five-year period.

  • Behavioral health counseling is available to all clients through Catholic Charities' Counseling Department immediately after arrival.

  • The Refugee Resettlement Program in conjunction with the Family Education Department provides English instruction to refugee families. The classes are offered both during daytime and evening hours with childcare available at no cost.

  • Refugee Resettlement Program clients benefit from Catholic Charities' Bureau of Immigration Affairs accredited Immigration Department, available to assist clients in immigration matters.

  • Medical Interpreter and Translation Services.
