Refugee Resettlement Services

 

Catholic Charities' refugee resettlement programs include over 112 sites nationwide dedicated to improving the quality of life for newly arrived refugee families. The Refugee Resettlement Program receives federal and state funding to assist any person who has entered the United States as a refugee (as recognized by the federal government) for up to five years from the date of entry.

The Refugee Resettlement Program of Catholic Charities of Central New Mexico is a comprehensive program devoted to the successful integration of refugee families into the Albuquerque community. Through case management, job development, education and vocational training, the Refugee Resettlement Program empowers newly arrived families to achieve self-sufficiency and to become active members of their community.

The Refugee Resettlement Program offers a wide range of services focusing on empowerment and self-sufficiency for refugeefamilies.

  If you want be involved in welcoming refugee families to Albuquerque, contact:

  • Individual case managers provide intensive service and document client progress to families for up to six months from the time of arrival. Case management may continue for up to five years for return clients and special needs cases.
  • Job developers provide employment services, support and follow-up to clients throughout a five-year period.
  • Mental health counseling is available to all clients through Catholic Charities' Counseling Department immediately after arrival.
  • The Refugee Resettlement Program in conjunction with the Family Education Department provides beginning, intermediate and advanced English instruction to refugee families. The classes are offered both during daytime and evening hours with childcare available at no cost.
  • Vocational training and skills development courses as well as career counseling are provided at no charge to refugee families within a five-year service period. All of the courses are designed to prepare clients for job placement upon completion.
  • Refugee Resettlement Program clients benefit from Catholic Charities' Bureau of Immigration Affairs accredited Immigration Department, available to assist clients in immigration matters.
