PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY

The Parish Social Ministry is grounded in Catholic Social Teaching and in the principle that the work of charity and justice is not solely the purview of professional staff, but the responsibility of all the faithful through their baptismal call.

The Mission of the Parish Social Ministry is to develop rural and urban parishes to meet individual and family needs, and promote human development, despite the long distances and limited resources. The Parish Social Ministry provides direct services, justice education, advocacy and/or community organizing. The role of Catholic Charities in the Parish Social Ministry is to facilitate organizational assistance through volunteer management, training, and needs assessment for parishes.

The Parish Partnership Committee--
Organized by the Parish Social Ministry, its members have met quarterly in view of promoting a mutual collaboration among parishes, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, and other church-based social ministries, such as the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the St. Felix Food Pantry, Albuquerque Interfaith, and SHARE NM.

For more information call the Parish Social Ministry Coordinator at 247-9521 ext. 127.
